Coupled with years of experience as a hog barn manager, farmer, and then as a fabricator; Kenny grew up surrounded by machinery and loves technology. He understands our CNC equipment inside/out. Kenny & Melvin have worked together closely for 20 years as an innovative team. Kenny has been with SDI since the day it was just a thought process & dream. He was working as a senior design engineer for a firm in PA and helped Melvin design products as ideas morphed into reality. His design and engineering background has taken SDI concepts of feeding hogs to a new level. Kenny wears many hats at SDI as our design engineer, network and IT manager, product development supervisor, quality inspector and ensures all equipment is up to date and running. Kenny’s years as a barn manager gave him first-hand experience of what works and what doesn’t. Kenny is always excited to look at new ideas and concepts within the manufacturing arena. Delivering quality products and satisfied customers is his end goal!
A lifelong resident of Mitchell, SD, Lars graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Machine Tool Technology from Southeast Tech in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Lars has 20 years of production management experience in various leadership roles within the manufacturing industry. Lars leads the Operations at SDI. His focus is on constant improvement and innovation of SDI’s industry-leading products and manufacturing processes.
Michael brings a deep passion for agriculture and a dedication to helping customers keep their businesses productive. Raised in a small farming community in Southern Minnesota, Michael was immersed in agriculture from an early age through 4-H and FFA, experiences that laid the foundation for his career. Previously, Michael worked in the animal health industry leading customers to success and brings that same mind set and passion to SDI. Outside of work, Michael enjoys exhibiting and marketing show cattle.
Troy Smit is a Sales Representative for SDI. Troy builds and maintain relationships with new and current customers throughout the United States. You’ll find Troy representing SDI at numerous events and tradeshows. Troy has over 15 years of experience in the swine industry and has been in production and construction project management. Troy lives in Sioux Center, Iowa with his wife, Katelyn, and kids Lincoln, Wyatt, Haddie and Bryar. In Troy’s free time you can find him enjoying golfing, boating, hunting/fishing, and spending time with his family.
